Get Involved, Get Plugged In, Volunteer

Around nearly every corner, we see the reason Christ said, "The Harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few."  (Matthew 9:37) Many, if not all we encounter, need to experience the life changing love of Christ in both word and deed.  We are in the gracious position to serve God by serving others with compassion.  Giving of our time and abilities is a wonderful way to not only to help others but also to strengthen our walk in Christ.

We believe that each of us is called and empowered by God to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ.   (I Corinthians 12:4-11) John Wesley described this work in simple, practical terms: "Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can."  Putting our faith into action is the very heart of what God has called us to do. (James 2:14-26)

By volunteering to serve, every person in the body of Christ has the opportunity to fulfill their calling more faithfully, by  embodying Christian love in action, bringing their diverse talents and gifts to mission programs and local outreach ministries.

How do I Get Started?

First, start by asking asking yourself, "What are my interests?" What am I passionate about?  What group of people touch or move me the most?  What problems or issues bother me?"

Second, explore how God has uniquely designed you?  Think about your personality, skills, and abilities.  Think about your life experiences and how God can use them to help others.  Answering these question will get you on the right track in selecting a ministry or area of service.  If you still need help, try the Team Ministry Spiritual Gifts Inventory by the Church Growth Institute.  This in an excellent tool in helping you identify your spiritual gifts.
